The SNMPv3 provides authentication and encryption therefore is always the preferred choice when it comes to monitoring network assets.
Our implementation of the SNMP protocol is based on a pull model. This means that the LANtern probe polls the network device for the insights. To enable the response, the network node needs to support this protocol and has to be appropriately set with the username. password, encryption and hashing algorithms.
